One Year with IPSY!

 IPSY

October 2013 Glam Bag
This month marks my one year with IPSY! For those who don't know about IPSY, it's a monthly makeup subscription in which you receive a glam bag. In each glam bag you receive 4-5 name brand items and its only $10 a month! Some of these products alone are more than $10 alone so its definitely worth it! From makeup, to nail polish, to skin care, to hair care, you can't get enough. I love it.

How It Works

You can get started by filling out a fun quiz which helps the stylists pick which products are best for you. For the most part, everyone receives the same products in the bag with the exception of one or two products. For example.. If you selected in the quiz that you love hair care products and didn't select skin care, you're more likely to get a hair care product if that's a choice the stylists have that month.

The first of the month, your card is charged. While you're waiting, you can check out the sneak peaks they post on Facebook for this first 5 days of the month. You then receive an email around mid month, saying your bag is on its way!

Glam

My favorite part about IPSY is the fact that it they send products that I wouldn't necessarily buy on my own.  It gives me a chance to try new products. (It also saves me money because it keeps me away from the drugstores..for the most part) I still look forward to getting a new glam bag every month.  A couple of my friends are also subscribed to IPSY so we swap products if there's a product we're not feeling (like different color nail polish and such).

IPSY also puts a discount card in your glam bag. Some products are a smaller than the average container so if you like that item and would like to purchase it, IPSY gives you a online code so you can receive a discount. #score

I have nothing but great things to say about IPSY. I don't plan on canceling any time soon. My favorite subscription thus far. If it wasn't for IPSY, I wouldn't have tried half of these great products.

Garnier BB Cream Review

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Light/Medium Skin Renew
Anti - Aging

There's a huge craze over BB Cream (aka Beauty Balm) right now in the beauty industry. I had to try it for myself to see what the hype is all about. Garnier calls this the "Miracle Skin Perfector" and like many products, there's always something so magical about the product or it has a list of things it claims to do. Garnier claims that in ONE application you will get the following results with this BB Cream:

Even skin tone
Hydrates
Renews
Protects
Brightens

Does it live up to what it says?

Even Skin Tone - Yes
Hydrates - Yes.. Very
Renews - um renews what exactly?
Protects - Yes.. Contains SPF. (Reapply every 2 hours)
Brightens - Yes.. It gives skin a nice glow.

My opinion..

Pros
Very Moisturizing
Natural looking.. as in it doesn't have a foundation look.Your skin still shines through without looking cakey.

Cons
Limited Shades - only comes in Light/Medium or Medium/Dark
Light/Medium is TOO dark for people who are light/fair (like meeee)
Red Undertones
Dewy (use powder if you want a Matte look)
Light Coverage (if you're looking for something with more coverage this might not be for you)
Not long lasting

Would you repurchase this product?

No. I really want to like this product because I love that fact that how my skin shows through and it doesn't look like foundation. Unfortunately, this product isn't for my skin. I have very light skin and this is too dark. I don't understand how a brand can combine 2 shades together. I'm light.. not both light/medium. For this to come in only 2 shades is very disappointing. It also has red undertones which isn't appealing seeing as I have yellow undertones. I've actually mixed the BB Cream with my L'oreal True Match foundation to tone down the redness which seems to help.

Would you try another BB Cream?

I would consider another BB Cream (different brand) just because I love how natural looking and moisturizing it is. I would love to try a Korean BB Cream because they're way different than US BB Creams. Anyway, back to US BB Creams.. next time I might try a higher end department store BB Cream. I feel as though buying a high end product the first time is worth it.. just because after trying so many drugstore products you end up paying just as much as ONE high end product... Anyone else with me on that one?
